Breathe in Calm and Exhale Anxiety

Relax while drifting off and floating away. Nitrous Oxide provides a practical option for patients who just need a little help with the anxiety around the dental process. Even though they really are harmless, there are very few of us who like needles or drills of any kind, especially in our mouths, it’s just our minds that make them scary. So, soothing the mental edges of the mind on a temporary basis is the perfect solution. And temporary it is, the gas mix is so mild that it only maintains 100% effectiveness as it’s is being inhaled. Cases vary, but the average person can see the effects wear off in as little as 5-10 minutes. This makes this very practical in respect to self-transportation to and from your appointment.

So what is it like to be under the effects of Nitrous Oxide?

It begins with a vague light head sensation followed by the transformation into a floating feeling that gives you a sense of weightlessness. Then the tingling of the extremities gently pops into the fingertips and toes. Once you are at the 100% stage of sedation, the notion of the dental process shifts into a sensible state of acceptance. This shedding of anxiety brings you to a manageable place where your dental health can take the drivers seat and your fears can take a ride in the back.

An easy solution to making the visit a little less stressful.

Dr.Mary Lou is so precise when administering this procedure that children who just can’t relax are safe as can be. As soon as the little mask is off, it’s just several minutes till its all over. This sedation method works on most patients to achieve some level of relaxation. But there are some who do not respond to it like others, and in those cases, we have other methods of sedation that will accomplish results.
